Under 7s
The Southern Lions Under 7 7 team had lots of fun playing Mandurah on 29th June at Palmyra.
We are looking forward to the next game.

Under 8s
The under 8s performed well this week against a strong Kwinana side. A man of the match performance from Athan Cable with strong tackling and ball carrying. Athan was well backed up by teammates who are all making strong progress week in and week out.
Keep up the good work boys!

Under 9s
The boys had a bit of a lesson from Palmyra White this round being outclassed by their opponent's speed, passing and turnover ability.
Palmyra came out fighting to score some tries in quick succession to completely dominate the first half. The boys did regroup well and came back stronger in the second half with more consistent, focused defence slowing down their opponents. There was some excellent long range running required to chase down Palmyra players as displayed by Encouragement Award recipient, Montel Brack for his not-giving-up attitude and his great team support. Darius Bothma took our Man of the Match for his efforts to slow down the opposing team and his excellent tackling and defence. Hopefully this lesson will see the boys focus better during this week at training.

Under 10s
This week we played at Palmyra against a very good and well organised opposition.
Our game was refereed by Western Force player, Sias Ebberson who let the game flow and allowed penalties to go unseen The boys held the lead 14 to 12 at half time when a firing outfit came and took control of the the game and we lost 40 to 14.
Our man of the match this was Vikko Taufaao.

Under 12s
The Under 12s went down 54 to 12. Although the score doesn't indicate it, the boys put up a great fight against last year's premiers, a very strong Kalamunda. They showed great heart and really gave them a good run in patches. Looking forward to Mandurah this week.

Under 13s
The Under 13s this week had a good win against Joondalup, they started well and led the whole game running in 5 unanswered tries. They played more as a team this week and had it not been for the ball being slippery they would have had a few more points on the board. The backs put together some good running rugby and the forwards dominated the scrums. They are currently sitting 4th on the ladder and are capable of going higher!

Under 14s
This week the boys played Waneroo again, however, the result was much better. Still a loss, but the boys put up a great fight. They didn’t score till the second half when newcomer to the team, Tony Raoren ripped the ball off of a Waneroo player on his tryline and dived over the line to score. The second was scored by Claudio Gouveia who burst through a few tackles to score under the posts. Marcus Arrindell got the conversion, but that was the end of our scoring. Final score was 36-12. Men of the match were: Tate Szydlowski again for the forwards and Tony Raoren for the backs.

Under 15s
Southern Lions 12 Palmyra 7

Hard fought victory over our arch rivals Palmyra. The team is showing signs of what they can achieve as a team. We just need to keep positive at training and good things will come.
Player of the day went to Gus, who made his rugby debut, special mention to Michael & Brendan who had solid games.
