Under 7s
This weekend was a bit tough our little men as they played 2 games in a carnival in Rockingham, but they played well and gave it all, as usual!
Josh Dagg was our man of the match.

Under 8s
Yesterday's 2 games at the Joey carnival were closely fought contests. Game 1 against ARKS red was a closely fought game with a super performance by Bailey Harbour who ran in 4 tries and a man of the match performance by Oakley Battams for his outstanding defence and constant running. The second game was even more exciting with great ball recycling and retention from the lions, lots of tries and some excellent running rugby. Jack Thorpe was the man of the match for his excellent all round game culminating in a try. The boys keep improving every week and take the lessons from training into the game.

Under 9s
Good effort from the boys this weekend. They continue to develop their skills and team work and are going from strength to strength.
Man of the match went to Balt Griesel for his commitment, focus and great team support. Encouragement award to Blade Trad for getting straight in there with enthusiasm for his first game with the team.

Under 10s
The under 10s played two games down at Rockingham Joeys Carnival the first against Mandurah which we won convincingly.

Then against Rockingham which was a rough and hard fought encounter which the boys went down by two tries.

The man of the match went to Connor Atkin for trying his hardest and doing what we practiced at training on tuesday and thursday nights, well done.

Under 13s
U13s had no match, but all is looking good for a great second half of the season the lads are starting to "gel" and a few more wins will be very achievable!

Under 14s
Another nail biter for the Lions U14s this week! Missing several players through injury or other school commitments, they had to rely heavily on help from the U13s, who had a bye this week. Once again they started slowly and let in two quick tries by Mandurah, before they got on the scoreboard with a try by Claudio Gouveia mid-way through the first half. However, Mandurah scored again before half-time to make it 17-5 at the break.

In the second half, they started a lot better. From a penalty deep in their opponents 22, after a few pick and drives by the forwards, they eventually scored via Torran Thomas. Liam McKinnon converted to make it 17-12 to Mandurah. Then a good run down the left side by Arno Louw, with good support by Marcus Arrindell, saw Marcus go over for a try. Scores were tied! Unfortunately a breakaway try by Mandurah made it 22-17 with about 10 mins left. But the boys never gave up and some good running by Reece Jennings gave him a try. The conversion by Liam McKinnon was the difference in the end. Southern Lions winning 24-22. An excellent effort, given the circumstances.

A huge thanks to the U13s that helped out :- Jack Holt, Michael du Preez, Willem Smith, Johan Van Rensberg and Reece Jennings.

Under 15s
Southern Lions 7 Wanneroo 33

The boys are improving, but the lack of numbers in the 15s is taking its toll, however this team will be there at the business end of the season.
Special thanks to the under 14 boys for backing up and playing as hard as they did.
Player of the day was Brody Eastwood . Scott Morrison, who is new to rugby also had a great game. Brandon Horne also deserves a mention for his efforts.
The boys need to keep up their positive attitude and the rewards will come.
