Round 10 2017 vs Kwinana RUFC

Dominant Win for Lions

Kwinana Wolves RUFC travelled to Southern Lions for the teams first game in 2017. Kwinana were looking to continue their recent good form including a win against Mandurah.

Kwinana started strongly and took an early 3-0 lead. Southern Lions didn't give Kwinana many chances after that and finished comfortable winners.

Southern Lions coach Brett Fell provided the following summary of the game -

"Southern Lions 1st grade made it 10 from 10 on Saturday defeating Kwinana 54 to 8. Again the team were not tested on the park and it is difficult to assess the teams progress. Scoring 8 tries was a fair reflection of the game. The team dominated the set piece and in turn gained dominance in possession and with more accuracy could have put more points on the board. Kwinana never gave up to their credit but lacked the physical presence and skill set to put the boys under too much pressure. Sam Price at number 7 claimed the player of the day award with a performance that displayed a great work rate plus sound defence and confidence in attack. Sam was supported by props Vaka and Dan Lee who worked hard along with backs Sheldon Willan, Dan Cassidy and Joel Lamatoa. Looking ahead to this weekend the team travel to Rockingham and are expecting a sterner test. It is important the team put some work in this week and challenge themselves to be better in their disipline, aggression and work rate off the ball."
