2017 Champ A Semi-Final vs Curtin Uni RUFC

Coach Brett Fell reports -

"A splendid performance from the Southern Lions 1st grade saw them produce a stunning victory of 64 points to nil victory over Curtin in the semi-final at Southern Lions on Saturday.

The side came out firing and showed there intention in the first scrum as they steam rolled the Curtin pack of their own ball. Gaining possession the team played with real good structure and put together multiple phases putting the Curtin defence under pressure for regular periods.

Starving Curtin of the ball the side went on a scoring spree which resulted in 5 tries being scored in the first half in which 2 were converted to lead 29 nil at the break. Throughout the 1st half the forward pack worked tirelessly at set piece dominating both components and supplying the backs with quality ball to use.

The 2nd half seen a repeat of the 1st half with the side staying in complete control. Down to 13 men the side defended stoutly not allowing Curtin to score and then breaking away themselves to see Greg Jackson score his 2nd try of the day.

From there the team grew in confidence and went on to score 4 more tries converting them all.

This performance was a great preparation for this weeks final but will only be remembered if the team gets the job done this weekend at Mandurah.
