The Gold competition is gaining strength across the board.

With a much changed opposition The Reds needed to have early ascendancy, this came via a quick try early in the game from Storm.

However as has been the norm we forgot about the game plan and played some poor rugby. A half time talk reinforcing the value of training Tuesday’s and Thursdays and a game plan we need to follow saw what was the best second half performance of the year so far.

Round 4 got the team playing as a team and with the Forwards setting a platform and all contributing it was a committed pack at the Scrums and Lineouts. Jack Doyle left his mark on the game not only with some blood but a very solid performance. Once again Shane delivered and would have given the selectors something to consider. In the backline strong games from all showed what was possible especially when we played the second half. Good ball takes and straight running from Ryan was impressive, a couple of good box kicks, good direction from Cam got the ball moving out to where it has the most effect for the Reds.

Unfortunately it was a game marred by a serious injury and Ethan after playing a solid game in the first half replaced Jack Doyle with minutes to go and was taken to Hospital with a knee injury.

Three tries to none did not reflect the impressive 2nd half, however we cannot continue to wait for the attacking team to come up to us we must go to them. The dogs have shown that this competition is gaining some strength and that can only be good for Rugby.
