Lionesses go down fighting

The Lionesses travelled to the Foreshore to take on a Nedlands team fighting for a top 4 place. The Lionesses knew they were in for a tough game. The ladies tried hard but couldn't get going for the most part. Training has been improving recently and the team looks like it is on the way up. If the hard work continues they will get the wins they deserve.

Co-coach Kev Thornton provided the following summary of the game -

"The ladies travelled to Nedlands for today's game. We managed to field a full team and had 3 or 4 reserves as the game progressed.
Expectations were high for a good result especially on the back of last week's effort, the higher than usual numbers that turned up to training this week and the return of a couple of more experienced players.

Nedlands started very strongly and were awarded a penalty try after we tackled a little high. We managed to get our hands on the ball after the restart and it didn't take long to see how the day was going to go.
Too many players taking on all the opposition at once and not looking for the support from others. Throwing the impossible pass instead of setting up the ball, one of our stronger points from last week and missed tackles took it's toll.
If it wasn't for the efforts of our captain Danielle and player of the day Ally Reid who seemed to be at every breakdown, trying to tackle everyone and running hard with the ball all day the scoreline would have been higher. Great work Ally and Dani.

Hopefully a few lessons were learnt today by the ladies. If we can play the full 60mins, then I am absolutely positive that if we play like we have been playing the last couple of weeks, as a team, we could have won today. Well as they say, there's always next week.
Thanks again to all the supporters who turned up to watch today."

Hard Luck to the team. Keep up the hard work at training and a win is right around the corner.
