The Lions ran out for their first pre-season game on 9th Match against an established Cottesloe side on Saturday in glorious sunshine at the Success Complex.

The guys ran out into the heat and met them head to head, the best example being the first few scrums, that saw the Lions pack sending Cotts backwards. Although on maintaining possession their back line were a little more structured and made in roads through the Lions midfield defence on a few occasions.

With some of the Lions players out of their comfort zone position wise, it took some patience and concentration to keep some sort of structure, which unfortunately it appeared the heat drained some of that focus away as the afternoon progressed.

The first two sessions saw our line breached three times, but the introduction of youth saw one back for the Lions, in a 'team' effort for a 60m counter attack.

The last session saw great heart and team ethics hit a high with the talk in the defensive line and some good support work when in possession. The players got that rustiness out of the system early on and by the end of day all the conversation was positive and looking forward to training this week before meeting the Pirates on Friday night.
