Southern Lions proved too strong for Arks and except for a 10min period in the second half they dominated proceedings. Arks worked hard throughout and put Lions under pressure for a time scoring two tries. The shock spurred the Lions on to add 10 more points and end up clear winners.

Southern Lions winning 41-20 scoring 7 tries with 3 successful conversions to 2 tries, 2 conversion & 2 penalties.

Southern Lions coach Brett Fell provided the following summary of the game -

"Southern Lions 1st grade side played Arks at home last Saturday and won 41 20.
It was a game where the boys started really well and seemed ready to produce a quality performance but unfortunately the team's performance lacked consistency. With clearly a lot of things happening off the ball that was not necessary, it made for a stop start affair. Throughout the match the boys played to much rugby off static ball being caught behind the gain line which stopped quick ruck ball and the ability to apply pressure.Leading 19-6 at halftime, the boys stretched there lead out to 31-6 early in the 2nd half only to let Arks come back to 31-20 with 2 quick tries. The boys then regrouped to finish with 2 more tries of the own. Greg Jackson and Joel Lamatoa impressed in the backs and the loose trio of Mike Furze, Sam Price and Dean Kingi toiled hard. Still looking to produce more flow to their game, the team just need to keep working hard and keep ahead of the bunch."
