The strong wind allowed Nedlands to keep the Lions inside their own 22 for most of the first half. The big Nedlands No.12 made several breaks through the Lions backline leading to 2 tries for the visitors.
The Lions started to find their feet and came back hard but a late breakaway try to Nedlands didn't reflect the Lions efforts.

The Lions tore into the second half, with great running from backs and forwards getting within metres of the try line on many occasions.
Strong defence kept Souths out time and time again. Souths forward Dirk Penny had a strong appeal for a try rejected by the referee.
Nedlands fought back, working their way to the South 22 but good defence won the home team a penalty. No8 Willi Liu kicked deep and great attacking defence by Lions created a gap for No 3 Marco De Araujo to dive over. The conversion was the last play.
