Curtin Uni RUFC made the trip to play Southern Lions in the Round 6 Champ B match.
Southern Lions were looking to back up their first win of the season last week against Rocky and build for the rest of the season.
Southern Lions coach Ashley Peel provided the following summary of the game -
"Southern Lions met Curtin Uni at Thomas Oval for the second time this season.
Southern Lions started strong with big prop Luke Napier scoring the first try and it was clear the Lions got Curtin on their back foot.
Curtin hit back with two tries but not to be out done, Southern Lions fought back to score another try before half time.
With the heat starting to take its toll, the second half was going to be challenging from the onset.
Although the Lions fought hard, Curtin managed two Penalties and a try to take the lead. However in true fighting spirit the Lions never gave up and scored the final try of the match. Final score being 17 v 25.
Player of the day went to Andy Hunt for his outstanding defence and work load."
Hard Luck to the coach and players on a narrow loss but the spirit shown by all will lead to many more wins in 2017.
