Southern Lions were looking to get revenge for the earlier Rd 4 loss to Perth Irish. Southern Lions knew that if they continued play as well as in recent weeks they would get the win the desired.

Southern Lions coach Ashley Peel provided the following summary of the game -

"The Lions were keen to redeem themselves against Perth Irish at Centenary Park where the Lions lost to the Irish earlier in the season.

From the onset you could see the Southern Lions meant business. The forward pack looked strong and played well together as a team allowing the backs to move the ball around. This resulted in the Lions dominating in the first half scoring two converted tries to nil at half time.

Southern Lions came out strong again, sticking to their game plan and scoring first in the second half. Hats off to Perth Irish who fought back hard against a solid Lions defence, they managed to get on the board with two unconverted tries before the final whistle.

Player of the day officially went to Andy Hunt, however it was a team effort and everyone played extremely well and should be proud."
